Communication plays a pivotal role in crisis management. Correct flow of information at all levels of the organisation is essential. Transparency must be maintained, and management must effectively communicate with employees and provide them with the necessary information, support and guidance at the times of crisis.
Ellison Lynd Consulting can support organisations to prepare for and respond to times of crisis using our 3 stage crisis management model:

1. Diagnosis of Crisis
The first stage involves anticipating and detecting the early indicators of risk which might lead to a crisis. It is for the leaders and managers to sense the warning signals of a crisis and prepare the employees to face the same with courage and determination.

2. Planning
Once a crisis is being detected, crisis management team must immediately respond. Plans need to be developed quickly and responsibilities for implementation made clear to those responsible. Key stakeholders should be alerted at the earliest opportunity and reassured of what plans are being implemented to address the crisis. In extreme instances, it may be necessary to prepare a press statement in the event of being approached by the media

3. Adjusting to Changes
Employees must be supported to adjust to new situations and changes for effective functioning of organisation into the future. It is important to review the factors which led to a crisis and adjust systems to avoid further incidents.
